The Carers Association International Walk
The International Walk 2010 which took place in Northern Italy last week was a great success. Twenty five volunteers worked tirelessly to reach their target of €2,990 in what was the most difficult year to date in fundraising but nevertheless they succeeded in reaching their goal through Bag packing, Flag Days, Race Nights, Pub collections, Mini Marathons and Corporate Donations helping to create awareness of the Carers Association along the way.

If that wasn't enough shoe leather to wear down they then had to walk 8-10 miles per day in Italy. The weather wasn't good for the first couple of days but it brightened up to become perfect walking conditions. We stayed in the Hotel Oasi which was situated in Riva Del Garda with a wonderful view of the Alps. The craic was mighty and the group all got on really well together. The walk took in the beautiful sights of the Alps and all of the wonderful little towns around Lake Garda. We then visited the beautiful city of Verona and later in the week had the opportunity to see Venice by Gondola which was magnificent. Of course there was plenty of time for shopping and some of the group shopped till they dropped while the rest availed of the fabulous Wellness Centre in the Hotel where they could relax after their hard days walking in the Turkish Baths or had a massage to ease their aching bones.

A fantastic time was had by all and friends were made for life. The Carers Association would like to congratulate each of the Volunteers on their achievement and to thank them for their continued support
